750th Celebrations

All Hallows Mitton

2020 is a very special year for All Hallows church, one of the 3 churches in our United Benefice, as 750 years of Worship and Welcome are celebrated at the church building.

To mark this special anniversary, a week of Mission and Celebration is planned from 30th May through till 7th June which we hope will be well supported and appeal to the wider community.

During the week there will be a number of events  and opportunities to welcome  friends, old and new to All Hallows. There will be exhibitions and displays in the church throughout the week and also specific events on each day which celebrate different aspects of the church and our worship.

There will be more details on this website as the events are finalised and below are some of the things that are planned. If you want to get involved please email our Curate Karen

  • The events kick off with a bike ride from Cockersands Abbey to All Hallows Church on Saturday 30th May. This will is to recognise the All Hallows connection with the Abbey, as Cockersands Abbey held the church from 1314 to 1539. Let us know if you want to get involved!
  • Sunday 31st May - Pentecost - we welcome Bishop of Lancaster to conduct a confirmation service with candidates from across our three parishes
  • Saturday 6th June, children of all ages (and their teddies!) are invited to a Teddy bears picnic
  • Sunday 7th June there will be a service of Celebration

During the week there will be displays and exhibitions in church including:

  • Crafts and flowers celebrating our favourite hymns
  • Marriage exhibition organised by the Mother's Union
  • Exhibition from Whalley Art Group
  • Historical displays in the Shireburn Chapel
  • Self guided prayer walk

There will also be musical and drama events during the week. More details and a full timetable to follow.
